Total Compensation is targeted at $55K - $65K.  To be determined based on candidate's credentials, experiences, and potential value to the department / firm. 

 

Position located in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Remote candidates considered.  

 

Staff Accountant

 

Our client is a leading provider of consumer services to the automotive industry.  As an entrepreneurial startup, owned by a global private equity firm, they are undergoing rapid growth and as such the Staff Accountant position will offer significant learning and career advancement opportunities.

 

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, is flexible, adaptive to change, looking for a challenge, has a zest for learning, and is excited to grow into this role.  The Staff Accountant will be driven by data, but also enjoys working in a collaborative team environment.  You will be the subject matter expert and influence high visibility company-wide initiatives, be integral in implementing a new software platform, and work closely with external accountants to help audit existing business.

 

Responsibilities (will include but not be limited to):

  • Perform timely month/year end close with consolidated financial statements
  • Bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Provide support for budget preparation and forecasting.  Record necessary accruals and amortization
  • Prepare and/or review other reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts
  • Manage fixed assets including real estate/sales tax payments, and leases.  Track all business licenses
  • Prepare/examine accounting records, inter-company transactions, and other financial reports
  • Develop and analyze reporting variances for business operations and budgets
  • Perform internal audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
  • Assist in new software implementation and utilize technology to help streamline and improve efficiencies
  • Assist with payroll, external audits, and work with external accountants for taxes
  • Help prepare Board of Director presentations
  • Complete special projects and ad-hoc jobs as needed

Qualifications:

The Staff Accountant will have a solid foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to build new controls and processes related to revenue, purchasing, accounts payable, and reporting.  In this position, you must be knowledgeable in general business practices, while also enjoying data, handling reconciliations, figuring out problems and issues, hitting deadlines, and continuously seeking to improve processes and procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Business, Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA/MBA a plus
  • 1-3+ years of experience in accounting
  • Deep understanding of GAAP
  • Knowledge of cloud-based accounting software
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel required.  Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and other MS applications
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely organized, with keen attention-to-detail.  Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize/handle multiple tasks
