Senior Operations Associate

Position Overview:

Our client is a privately held alternative asset manager with more than 20 years of success and approximately $20 billion in assets under management. Headquartered in the U.S. with offices in major financial centers, the firm has earned a reputation for disciplined, risk-aware investing and strong sponsor relationships, serving leading institutional investors worldwide.

The platform focuses on credit and multi-strategy investing across public and private markets, with expertise in distressed debt, special situations, senior loans, structured credit, direct lending, securitized products, and event-driven opportunities. Its clients include pensions, insurers, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices, who are supported through flagship funds and tailored mandates — delivered by a collaborative, governance-driven team.

Currently, they are seeking to hire a Senior Operations Associate (SOA) to play a critical role in driving the efficiency and accuracy of investment operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work across public and private markets, directly supporting the trading process and helping shape the infrastructure behind a fast-moving investment platform.

As part of the Operations team, you’ll gain exposure to complex credit instruments and alternative assets, work closely with trading desks and external counterparties, and be empowered to make meaningful improvements that scale with the firm’s growth. For the right candidate, this is a career-defining role that combines day-to-day execution with the chance to innovate and influence best practices.

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Take ownership of the trade lifecycle — monitor, capture, and settle trades across a wide range of asset classes, with particular focus on credit markets.
  • Problem-solve in real time — investigate and resolve trade breaks, position discrepancies, and reconciliation issues, working closely with brokers, custodians, and counterparties.
  • Navigate complexity — support events such as loan amendments, restructurings, reorganizations, securitizations, and other credit-related transactions.
  • Incorporate corporate actions — analyze and process corporate events to ensure proper reflection across positions, reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Safeguard accuracy — oversee daily cash and position reconciliations, ensuring clean reporting and reliable data for investment teams.
  • Provide responsive support — address inquiries from investment professionals and service providers regarding cash, positions, or trade activity.
  • Drive innovation — identify process enhancements, streamline workflows, and leverage technology to increase automation and scalability.
  • Collaborate and influence — partner with internal teams and manage relationships with third-party vendors to uphold a best-in-class operating model.
  • Elevate standards — oversee outsourced providers to strengthen trade capture, confirmation, settlement, data integrity, lifecycle processing, and P&L reporting.
  • Utilize industry tools — leverage widely used platforms such as ClearPar and other settlement systems to resolve discrepancies and support timely closing of complex loan transactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic achievement.
  • 5–10 years of experience in fund administration, finance, or operations, with a background in credit, leveraged finance, or hedge fund environments preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with credit products and the mechanics of complex instruments.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills; strong command of data and detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across investment, operations, and external teams.
  • A track record of solving complex operational challenges with creativity and persistence.
  • Familiarity with systems such as EZE OMS, Geneva, Hazeltree, Solvas, WSO, and ClearPar is a strong plus.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and motivated to build a long-term career in investment operations.
