Deputy Head of Human Resources

 

Position Overview:

Our client is the U.S. operations of a global European-based financial institution—recognized for providing corporate and investment banking services to institutional clients worldwide. As a mid-sized but strategically important extension of its global parent, the U.S. platform focuses on corporate lending, structured finance, capital markets, and treasury services.

 

Currently, they are seeking to hire a Deputy Head of Human Resources to help lead the people strategy for its U.S. business. Reporting to the U.S. Head of Human Resources, this role will serve as the #2 leader in the U.S. HR function, helping to execute and manage day-to-day HR operations while partnering with senior leadership on talent, regulatory, and organizational priorities. This is an ideal position for a high-performing HR professional with 7-10 years of experience who is ready to step into people leadership and deputy management responsibilities in a high-visibility, entrepreneurial environment.

 

The Deputy Head of HR will have broad exposure to executive leadership, regulatory bodies, and global HR partners, making this an excellent opportunity for someone seeking both operational scope and strategic development in a dynamic, international financial services business.

 

Responsibilities (will include but not be limited to):

·      Act as the right hand to the U.S. Head of HR in leading the U.S. HR team and driving day-to-day people operations.

·      Serve as a trusted HR business partner to mid-level and senior business leaders across multiple functions.

·      Support the execution of recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning to meet U.S. headcount goals.

·      Manage employee relations, performance management, and employee engagement activities in partnership with leadership.

·      Oversee compensation, benefits, and incentive programs administration, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.

·      Ensure regulatory compliance with U.S. labor laws, federal and state employment regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements.

·      Lead the development and communication of HR policies and procedures, tailoring global frameworks for the U.S. market.

·      Assist with HR operations, including payroll oversight, benefits administration, and HR systems management.

·      Collaborate closely with global HR teams to ensure alignment with group-wide strategies, reporting, and governance.

·      Provide HR reporting and analytics to support business and leadership decision-making.

·      Act as a proxy for the U.S. Head of HR in meetings and initiatives as needed.

 

Qualifications

·      7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within financial services, investment banking, or regulated global organizations.

·      Experience supporting HR leadership or acting as a deputy/second-in-command to a senior HR leader is highly preferred.

·      Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law, HR policies, and regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions.

·      Experience managing recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and HR operations.

·      Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

·      Proven ability to balance strategy and execution, with a hands-on, practical approach.

·      Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are a plus.

·      Experience in a matrixed, international environment with cross-cultural collaboration preferred.

·      High integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
