Compensation is targeted at $180K-$240K base + bonus (stock options). To be determined based on candidate’s credentials, performance and value added to the firm / department.  
 
VP, Finance - Public Reporting

Candidates MUST have 5 + years of experience in BioTech, FinTech, Biopharma, Pharmaceutical or Technology industry   

Our client is a growing, publicly traded biotechnology company.  They are led by a strong management team with extensive development experience and a history of bringing novel therapeutics to market. Currently, they are seeking to hire a VP of Finance, reporting directly to the CFO.  As the #2 finance professional of the firm, this “Hands On”, position will have full oversight responsibility for all financial, accounting and reporting (internal and external) of the firm.  
 
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
  • Oversee the review and preparation of all related consolidated financial statements, related notes, and management discussion and analysis.
  • Provide full range of financial reporting including supporting information for external reporting - 10Q and 10K.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate filing of regulatory reports required by various government agencies.
  • Manage financial accounts and monthly/annual close process including revenues, cost of revenues, operating expenses & balance sheet including reconciliations of accounts
  • Responsible for the preparation and adherence to the monthly, quarterly and annual detail close calendar and monitor adherence to the calendar.
  • General accounting and consolidation of general ledger, revenue, account receivables, accruals, and fixed assets.
  • Review monthly consolidated financial statements and perform variance analysis and investigate differences
  • Prepare financial information in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements and ensuring the company financial statements are compliant with GAAP.
  • Document the appropriate level of policy documentation for all material accounting processes
  • Develop, test and update SOX compliance procedures
  • Research complex accounting issues and prepare technical accounting memos supporting the company's position on accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Liaise with external auditors, legal counsel, Investor Relations, Communications and various team members within Business units.
  • Liaise with technology team in support of the applications supporting external financial reporting.
  • Recognize, research and resolve SEC and GAAP reporting issues and is aware of emerging accounting standards and SEC Rules and Regulations.
  • Provide training and development to the broader finance organization, where relevant.
  • Assist in various special projects.
 
Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA a MUST
  • 10+ years of combined experience in public accounting firm and or public company
  • MUST have 5 + years of experience in BioTech, FinTech, Biopharma, Pharmaceutical or Technology industry   
  • Individual should have proven experience working with directly with CEO and / or CFO of emerging company
  • Superior technical analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of current US GAAP and SEC reporting and filing requirements
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley rules and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exercise judgment in fast paced and changing environment;
  • MUST have 5 + years of experience in BioTech, FinTech, Biopharma, Pharmaceutical or Technology industry
