Position is currently hybrid (2-3 days/ week in midtown NYC office)

 

Position Overview:

Our client is a leading investment management firm serving a broad client base including financial advisors, institutions and individual investors. They offer multiple investment strategies focusing on infrastructure investment across a variety of providing institutional-quality, actively managed solutions with a performance-centered mindset.

 

As a buyside infrastructure fund that currently invests in power generation assets, they specialize in the acquisition and management of diversified income-producing renewable energy power facilities, energy efficiency projects and other sustainable development investments.

 

As the firm continues to raise capital and grow their investment portfolio, they seek to hire a Manager - Corporate Accounting, to join their finance team.  This role is heavily involved in technical accounting research, consolidation, lease accounting, the audit process, and development of internal processes to address various control risks. The successful candidate will work cross-departmentally with investments, operations, legal, tax, portfolio accounting, and financial reporting to accomplish its objectives. The Corporate Accounting Manager will report to the Corporate Accounting Senior Manager and will manage a team of 1-3 direct reports (staff and seniors).  As a small and evolving firm, the responsibilities will be broad, varied and all encompassing.

 

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Review and/or prepare technical accounting memos to analyze and support accounting scenarios both common and unique to the renewable energy industry.
  • Lead department projects, including developing and maintaining timelines and checklists for multiple projects to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Efficiently and appropriately delegate work to team members and consistently and reliably communicate upwards.
  • Anticipate and identify potential issues and challenges created by a particular transaction or process and work proactively with the team to address them.
  • Manage the monthly close process across a variety of accounting topics, including leases and equity. Review accounting workpapers and own internal control documentation for corporate accounting processes.
  • Manage the consolidation of all portfolio companies within FCCS at the corporate level for monthly, quarterly, and annual close for two public filing entities.
  • Manage the new lease accounting process under ASC 842, including ensuring that all leases associated with newly acquired projects are appropriately assessed, valued, and entered into lease accounting system, Visual Lease.
  • Manage the preparation of equity roll forwards and HLBV models and entries, in collaboration with the portfolio accounting teams and external service providers.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to gather data, resolve issues, and scale business processes.

 

Qualzifications:

  • CPA required
  • Audit or relevant consulting experience preferred
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience performing accounting research and preparing technical memos
  • Strong project management skills and experience in leading a team
  • Strong communication skills and works well cross departmentally
  • Ability to thrive and manage change in a fast-growing company
  • Highly motivated, independent, results-oriented, and possessing a strong sense of ownership
  • Analytical and detail oriented
  • Proven ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions
  • While a strong, broad knowledge of GAAP is important to this role, experience with the following topics will be most beneficial in this role:
  • Experience with HLBV (non-controlling interest), Visual Lease, Oracle ERP, and/or the renewable energy industry is a plus but not required
  • Experience with consolidation software (e.g. Hyperion, FCCS or similar) a plus but not required
