Sr. Associate/AVP, Valuation

 

Position Overview:

Our client is a global leader ($50+ Billion AUM) in alternative investing in assets across operational private equity (both control and non-control), distressed securities and assets, commercial mid-market lending, and real estate-related investments.  The firm’s activities include acquisition financing, recapitalization, working capital financing, bridge loans, and debtor-in-possession financing. across the capital structure.  They utilize integrated investment platforms and proprietary operating capabilities, offering long-term value.  Investors include government and private sector pension and retirement funds, charitable foundations, university endowments, insurance companies, family savings and sovereign wealth funds.  Currently, they seek to hire a Sr. Associate/AVP, Valuation professional to join their growing valuation team, to focus on performing valuation analyses on real estate and non-performing loan valuations.

 

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Perform valuation analyses on real estate and non-performing loan portfolios using comparable transactions and discounted cash flow valuation methods.
  • Maintain and monitor the asset portfolios by periodically communicating with asset managers and the investment team to understand how the latest macro-economic trends and asset developments will influence the investment’s holding value.
  • Provide support and explain the methodologies used to value the asset portfolios to the Firm’s auditors, investors and independent valuation consultants.
  • Present and support the asset portfolios’ holding value to the Firm’s Valuation Committee (on a quarterly basis) and to the CFO (monthly basis).
  • Assess financial impact by Fund of holding value changes for the asset portfolios and monitor and review the asset P&L (monthly basis).
  • Other ad-hoc projects as needed.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 4+ years of valuation experience
  • Big 4 experience a plus
  • CFA (a plus) or in the process of obtaining it.
  • Financial modeling experience, including working experience with projected cash flows, balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement reconciliation, discounted cash flow models, option models, market comparable models, market transaction models, present value analysis, internal rate of return analysis and corporate bond analysis.
  • Experience reviewing Operational booking (e.g., monthly P&L review to confirm marks are properly recorded, etc.) a plus.
  • Proficient in relevant information technology (Capital IQ, Bloomberg, etc)
  • Additional requirements include outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills in order to form relationships with asset managers and the investment team, the ability to work with multiple deadlines at the same time and the ability to deliver requested tasks in a concise and clear matter.
