Accountant / Senior Accountant – Alternative Asset Manager

 

Our client is a well-regarded, global alternative asset manager ($30+ billion AUM).  They specialize in providing credit solutions across CLOs, corporate credit (including senior loans and high yield bonds), structured credit and opportunistic credit.

Currently they seek to hire a Sr. Accountant to add to their rapidly growing team.  This “high visibility” position will collaborate with both corporate and fund accounting teams, and there will be numerous opportunities to contribute to both.  This is not a traditional fund accounting role.  

Ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience (public and/or private), CPA (preferred), and have industry experience with accounting / auditing of asset management companies and their funds.  Experience with fixed income investments and investment funds is desirable.  

A successfully candidate will be mentored as the firm continues to grow and increase in complexity.   Responsibilities will increase with the continued professional development of the individual.

 

Primary responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Manage the entire year end drafting process. Assist in the drafting of the year end reports for the management company.
  • Work directly with the auditors to complete the year end audit.
  • Work closely with the CAO and Corporate controller to research GAAP accounting rules and document the conclusions reached. Put together original work/calculation to support conclusions.
  • Assist the team in closing out financials of consolidated entities and booking them into the GL
  • Work closely with the fund administrators to create shadow books and records on several open and close-ended private equity funds with a credit focus.
  • Assist in automation projects the accounting team; including new GL implementation.
  • Act as point of contact for inquiries internal and external of firm including valuation issues, pricing, operations, controls, annual filings, consolidation assessments.
  • Participate in other ad hoc projects and other initiatives
  • Must be very detailed oriented and a good multi-tasker.
